Safer Homes works with professionals and organisations across the West Midlands to provide safe, supported accommodation for people experiencing housing instability.

Our referral process is designed to be simple, clear, and responsive, ensuring individuals can be placed into suitable accommodation as quickly and safely as possible.

Who can refer

We accept referrals from:

Local authorities

Housing officers and teams

Charities and support organisations

Social workers and safeguarding teams

Other approved partner agencies

Referral criteria

We support individuals who are experiencing housing instability and would benefit from supported accommodation.

Typical referrals include people who are:

Experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness
Escaping domestic abuse or unsafe living situations
Displaced or without stable accommodation
Leaving care or transitioning from supported environments
In need of stabilisation support alongside housing

Each referral is assessed individually to ensure safety, suitability, and the best possible outcome.

How the referral process works

Complete the referral form with key information about the individual and their current situation.

Initial review

Our team reviews the referral and assesses suitability based on availability and support needs.

Follow-up discussion

We may contact the referrer to gather further information or clarify details.

Placement decision

If suitable, we identify appropriate accommodation and confirm next steps.

Ongoing communication

We remain in contact with the referrer throughout placement and stabilisation
